Born in Milwaukee, WI…Masiel Rodriguez was raised in Mayagüez and Rincón, Puerto Rico and somehow arrived in the Tampa, FL vicinity in a town called Brandon. Three years ago she found herself performing for her first time at “Civic Situationz” which was then hosted by Philip Howze. She temporarily fell out of the poetry scene. In May 2005 she made her way back finding that her love for life always existed in spoken word. Her love affair with peace, love, music and all arts began to grow into some healthy form of a dependency. On July 2nd 2005 she celebrated the opening night of her open mic spot called “Oral Rhapsody”. This event is held every Saturday @ 7:30 PM in Brandon at The Cauldron Two Jamaican Restaurant across from the Brandon Hospital. The spot has been blessed with many of Tampa’s talented poets. On October 1st Masiel welcomes all artists to come join in the celebration of the three-month anniversary of “Oral Rhapsody”. As Masiel says: “Peace and Love”
