The Not Def Poetry Jam, one of Gainesville’s hottest new poetry nights was kicked off on September 18. It will be held every Wednesday night at the Plasma Lounge in downtown Gainesville. Doors open at 8 PM and it goes late into the night. Opening night was packed, and the lineup included poets, comedians, and a hot dj from the Detenator Squad. The event is produced by Kwame and Antonio, and features the Souljahs of Verbal Xpressions every week. The Souljahs include Jermaine, Erin, Eddie and Adrian. They have also featured Lake City’s hottest poet Nubia, Kristie of the Apartment Poets, and What. The Plasma Lounge has a great vibe and this night is essential of Gainesville’s growing spoken word scene.
