The Word Is Spoken! is a continuing poetry series featuring local poets, out-of-town guests, music, performance art, and OPEN MIC.
Our mission: To showcase local and out-of-town talent, discover and encourage new poets, and turn the whole community onto poetry.
The Word Is Spoken! started early in 2007 in the Downtown Library (Gainesville, Florida). In June, TWIS! graduated to Friday nights at a downtown club, and now can be found almost every Saturday at TIM & TERRY’S in midtown from 7 to 9. All shows are FREE. All ages are welcome, but please be aware that some content may not be suitable for younger audiences, so parental discretion is encouraged.
TWIS! has featured poets from Orlando, Tampa, Saint Augustine, San Francisco, and Salt Lake City. Upcoming shows will include guests from Jacksonville, Miami, Valdosta, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boulder, and … well, the list goes on and on!
